徒歩で日本縦断の旅 Walking Across Japan 62

camping next to 樹下美術館

Around 4 p.m., I started looking for a place to stay before sunset at 6. The inn I had planned to stay at was permanently closed, so I began searching for a place to set up my tent.

This area is filled with unused land and rice fields, and I thought it would be easy to find a spot for the night—but it turned out to be harder than expected. I couldn’t find any locals to ask whether certain areas were okay to use.

As I kept searching, I came across an art museum. An elderly man was walking nearby—finally, someone. I asked him if there was anywhere I could set up my tent.

He told me he was the museum director, and that I could use the field next to the museum. After hearing my situation, he kindly allowed me to stay there.

The weather was good while I was setting up my tent, but after sunset, the rain began to fall.
