I departed with the kabuki master, and before we parted ways, he took me to a rock shaped like a leg and prayed for my knee to heal.

Then I continued north toward Suhara. The cold grew sharper as the day went on, and near Suhara there was nowhere to stay, so once again I prepared to spend the night at the train station.

Yesterday, I had met a man named Katsuyuki-san. I gave him a call to tell him that I had made it to Suhara. About an hour later, while I was cooking my food, he suddenly appeared at the station with his son.

I was completely shocked—and deeply happy.
