My knee started hurting around here, near the Nakasendo Museum. I went inside to rest and let it recover for a while.

While I was there, I was invited to watch an ongoing kabuki lesson. I didn’t expect to see such young children so deeply devoted to this traditional art.

I stayed until the lesson ended. Then I gave them the small goods I carry with me—gifts I made for moments like this.

That was the reason I created them in the first place:
to give children a doorway into imagination.
